Brian Hawken began his musical journey at age 12 on baritone. Due to a shortage of tuba players in high school, he switched to tuba halfway through his freshman year and the rest, as they say, is history. Brian attended the University of North Texas where he studied tuba with Don Little and Ev Gilmore. Upon graduation he taught band in Texas for seven years. He joined the Glacier Symphony in 2019. In addition to orchestra Brian has played in wind bands, brass quintets, jazz band, and given solo recitals. He also plays bass trombone in jazz settings and occasionally in the symphony. When he is not playing music Brian enjoys boating, woodworking, and making barbecue.
