Sara Schultz Levesque is an award-winning musician who has recently returned to the Montana stage after several years studying and performing in the US and abroad. Sara began her studies at age 4 in Shepherd, Montana, subsequently preparing for college through her work with Mary LaMonaca and Randy Tracy. During this time, Sara was honored to participate in the National Symphony Orchestra’s Summer Music Institute and was the winner of the Montana Association of Symphony Orchestras Young Artist Competition. At age 17, Sara appeared as a soloist with several Montana symphonies through MASO. Sara studied violin and viola at Vanderbilt University under the direction of Christian Teal and John Kochanowski. While studying at the Blair School of Music, Sara won a concerto competition and performed in a quartet that was a national winner for the Music Teachers National Association competition.
While in Tennessee, Sara served in a leadership capacity with the Knoxville Symphony Orchestra. She joined the Nashville Symphony on their Northeast / Carnegie Hall tour under the baton of Kenneth Schermerhorn and participated in several of the symphony’s recording projects. Sara later moved to Germany, where she led an active performing career. Upon her return to the USA, Sara won the chair of Associate Concertmaster of Tacoma Symphony and also performed with the Northwest Sinfonietta. Sara currently holds the position of Principal Viola in the Helena Symphony Orchestra and the Missoula Symphony Orchestra.
Sara enjoys the philanthropic side of music, collaborating with her wife to bring music to those who cannot easily access performances. As a duo, Sara and Ali have performed in many schools, Native lands, memory care facilities, and hospitals in recent years. Sara is excited to join the Glacier Symphony Orchestra and Chorale as Associate Concertmaster, working with the intelligent, musical, and creative John Zoltek in the expansion of symphonic music and chamber music throughout Northwestern Montana..
