Meet Our Chorale Members
Growing up, Karma had musical parents who enrolled her in piano lessons at an early age and encouraged her to sing for anyone that looked like they would possibly listen, whether it was at church or to Mickey Mouse whilst on vacation. Her technical background was further cultivated by singing with the original Glacier Children’s Choir of the Flathead Valley; the grass roots beginnings of the Glacier Symphony and Chorale organization conducted by Shauneen Garner. Karma has sang in ‘rock’ bands and choirs across the country and been awarded scholarships and placement in local talent shows like ‘Flathead’s Got Talent’. She now prefers the quieter life of unpaid gigs at local watering holes, volunteering at her church, and the occasional karaoke shindig.
Joe Kola performs in the Bass section of the chorale. Joe is a Kalispell native and active member of the community. He is the Flathead Market President for Stockman Bank. Married with twin boys, Joe and his family enjoy the Montana outdoors in all seasons.
Catherine Robinson currently teaches voice and piano at the North Valley Music School in Whitefish after retiring from teaching choral music in Idaho, Washington, Montana, and New Mexico. Catherine performed with The Santa Fe Desert Chorale and The Santa Fe Opera and was the conductor of Coro de Cámara for eight seasons. Dave Christensen is a Flathead Valley native who, after some years experiencing other wonderful areas of the country, feels extremely blessed to have been able to return in 1997 and enjoy family and all that the Valley has to offer. He and his wife Denay own and operate Mountain Lake Mortgage and love working with and serving the local community. Dave has sung all his life but joining the Chorale in 2022 is his first experience singing with an organized group. He is very grateful for the opportunity to be a part of this amazing group of talented musicians.
KC Gates is a mom, veterinarian, and music lover. She grew up playing piano, and also played the clarinet, violin, and eventually joined the choir in high school. She and her husband are veterinarians, and enjoy exploring the outdoors with their 3 kids and menagerie of animals. She has been singing with the Glacier Chorale since 2021.
Doug Adams joined the Glacier Chorale in January 2022. Though a country singer at heart, he has thoroughly enjoyed being a part of such a high quality organization. Doug has been involved in music for most of his life, from church choirs to college bands. He served as director of a church choir for years. Doug says," I've learned a lot from Micah Hunter. He's a great director. The music is challenging, and I'm enjoying learning."
My name is Rachel Cook, I was born and raised in the Flathead Valley. As do most people who live here, I enjoy all the outdoor things the valley has to offer. I have been singing for as long as I can remember (not professionally, but just because). I am very happy to be a part of bringing great music here with the Chorale.
A soprano with GC for 20+ years, Amy also served on GSC’s Board of Directors from 2012-2015. Her love of choral music began in 10th grade when she first sang Beethoven’s “Ode to Joy” with the Toledo Symphony & Chorale. She’s sung with various groups, most recently in “Nightcap for the Soul.” National Park Service assignments (Grand Teton, Yellowstone, Yosemite, Wash., DC, and Glacier) involved work with journalists, filmers/photographers, community and business leaders, emergency responses, special events and special assignments. My husband, Gary Moses, is a retired NPS Ranger.
Bill Hartford has been a Baritone with GSC since 2007. A retired HS Science teacher and Gulf War veteran, Bill is one of the few members who was born, raised and spent most of his life here in the beautiful Flathead Valley. Bill currently works as a Licensed Peer Support Specialist at a local addiction treatment center, and enjoys hiking, hunting and fishing with his wife and dog. A lifelong singer, Bill most enjoys learning and singing sacred music in Latin and anything from Broadway musicals.
Kent joined Glacier Chorale as a Bass I in Fall of 2021. Born with a passion for music, he played guitar and sang in bands in high school, then moved on to the world of musical theater with roles in Man of La Mancha, Kiss Me Kate, Babes in Arms, The Merry Widow, The Barber of Seville, and several Gilbert & Sullivan operettas. Studying opera with Dianna Ruggiero led to opportunities for solos, weddings, and professional caroling groups. Now he is proud to support the Glacier Chorale as they make the most of their new home at the Wachholz.
Music has been an essential part of my life since my childhood in the suburbs of New York City. I started flute in the fourth grade and took weekly lessons at Julliard Prep though my senior year. After college, I came to Montana for a teaching job, met my husband, and raised four children. I started playing in the Symphony 40 years ago during its very first season. Besides music, I enjoy kayaking, cross-country skiing, writing, and my four grandchildren.
