Wild About Music (WAM) Guest Artist Performances
Each season, our soloists and symphony members are asked to perform a concert for Flathead Valley youth. These performances are free of charge and offered to every grade level, with most attendees from 4th - 8th grade. Through these concerts, students are able to meet world-class performers and musicians, who are often educators as well. Our guest artists often teach students about music theory and history in an exciting and captivating way. Some of our recent favorites have been presentations of world music by Les Arrivants and Suzanne Teng, as well as an earth science presentation by astrophysicist Dr. Jose Francisco Salgado.
Free Student Tickets
Thanks to grants and local business partners, we have been able to offer free student and youth tickets for our concerts.
Youth Music Experience
Inspiring the next generation of musicians
Thank you to the following organizations for making our Youth Music Experience programs possible!
Heartstrings
Sharing the healing power of music
The Heartstrings program brings live music to health care settings, providing comfort and connection for patients, families and staff. Last year, this outreach program reached around 1,000 individuals at Logan Health’s Brendan House, surgical recovery units, obstetric and pediatric units, and the hospital’s main lobby.
“Thank you for sending musicians to play in the Logan Health lobby. It is such a boost to staff morale, and filling the hospital with such a glorious sound certainly benefits patients and families alike. It is a real testament to the commitment of your community orchestra to our community that you do that for us.”
- Logan Health physician
We thank our sponsors Logan Health, Glacier Bank, and Dermatology Associates, for bringing this program to life! We also thank our Symphony members Ali Schultz-Levesque, Sara Schultz-Levesque, Jenanne Solberg, Griffin Browne, and Peggy Young for devoting your time and artistry to the Heartstrings program.
Symphony Storytime
Bringing the imagination to life through stories and live music
GSOC partners with all Flathead County Library locations to offer free, interactive Symphony Storytimes to the public.
In a chamber ensemble setting, our musicians and librarians bring picture-book stories to life, inspiring a love of both reading and music while awakening the imagination.
Stay tuned for the details of our upcoming Symphony Storytimes, where the GSOC woodwind quintet will be performing excerpts of Dan Brown’s Wild Symphony.
