Our family concert program is a theatrical symphony concert that imaginatively introduces young audiences and their families to the life and music of Ludwig Van Beethoven in a live performance venue. As an added treat, we present classical saxophonist soloist and winner of the 2022 Montana Young Artists Competition Senior Division, Antonio Jarvey, playing music of John Williams.

This concert will be the ultimate fusion of science and sound! Imagine Gustav Holst’s masterpiece, The Planets, performed by a symphony orchestra while a high-definition outer space film is projected overhead on the big screen! This critically acclaimed film by astronomer/film-maker Jose Francisco Salgado, PhD includes awe-inspiring space visualizations from NASA and the European Space Agency. Dr. Salgado will offer a pre-concert lecture to the audience. The concert also recognizes Rachmaninoff’s 150th anniversary with a performance of one of his influential 2nd Piano Concerto featuring internationally acclaimed pianist Ilya Yakushev.

The Glacier Chorale, under the direction of Dr. Micah Hunter, explores the many depictions of dreams in great poetry and choral literature. The performance will explore dreams of desire, awe, fear, love, beauty, and more in choral music both old and new. Honoring Native American Heritage Month, the symphony is offering a multimedia program, WestWater Arts’ “Visions,” a heartfelt tribute to America’s First Peoples through the unmistakable images of legendary photographer Edward Curtis and National Park imagery choreographed to music by Vaughn Williams. World flutist Suzanne Teng is featured in Maestro Zoltek’s world premiere of Earth Anthem, based on the poetry of University of Montana professor and Salish Kootenai poet, Heather Cahoon. The concert evening will open with ceremonial songs by Blackfeet artist, Keven Kickingwoman, and art installations including work by artist Monica Gilles-BringsYellow.

Experience the inspiring performance of Handel’s scripture-based oratorio. Featured soloists will perform alongside the orchestra and chorale. The piece celebrates the birth and life of Jesus Christ, and it is hard to resist singing along to the “Hallelujah” chorus. This is a classic Glacier Symphony performance!

Encore! Glacier Symphony is bringing back the holiday event that was the sold-out talk of the town last year. The San Diego Ballet Company, young local dancers and Glacier Symphony will present a fully staged production of the Nutcracker, Tchaikovsky’s holiday classic. It is an exciting chance to see the Nutcracker performed by a professional ballet company and live symphony orchestra.

Mark O’Connor, a multiple CMA and Grammy award-winning “fiddlemaster” and composer, is our special guest for this one-night only concert. He blends Americana bluegrass, country, jazz and classical genres. As a special treat, Mark will be joined on stage by another amazing fiddler, his wife, Maggie O’Connor, for a double dose of fiddling alongside the symphony orchestra. The program will also showcase Aaron Copland’s Appalachian Spring, a quintessential work of Americana.

Carl Orff’s choral-symphonic masterpiece, Carmina Burana, will be the booming season finale. The “O Fortuna” chorus is extremely well-known. It’s thundering symphonic-choral warning is used by countless filmmakers and advertisers - a quick Google search will jog your memory. But Orff’s masterpiece is much more than its opening chorus! The work, based on 13th century medieval texts, serves as the guiding thread for three voice soloists, a full chorale and large orchestra.

Symphony Night at Rebecca Farm

Symphony Night at Rebecca Farm is an OUTDOOR symphonic pops concert that has been a favorite summer tradition in the Flathead Valley for 20 years!! Purchase a car pass and load up your family, kiddos and friends to enjoy a night of popular, patriotic and well-known symphonic music, from Beethoven to Tchaikovsky. Join us on July 7th and 8th under a Montana sunset to celebrate the Glacier Symphony and our beautiful Big Sky state!

Bring a comfy chair, blanket and snacks or rent a picnic table to enjoy a night of popular and patriotic tunes. Take in the beautiful sunset, music and sense of community on the beautiful grounds at Rebecca Farm. Please do not bring in outside alcoholic beverages, we will have a vendor serving libations for the night! More popular food and drink vendors will be present, too!

Announcing Festival Amadeus “Mozart at McClaren Hall,” June 23-25, 2023, presented by the Glacier Symphony with performances in the acoustically magnificent McClaren Hall at the Wachholz College Center in Kalispell. This 3-concert series will include a Friday chamber concert and orchestra performances on Saturday and Sunday. Joining the Festival Amadeus Orchestra will be acclaimed soloists, Anna Polonsky and violinist Yevgeny Kutik, all under the direction of Founding Artistic Director John Zoltek. The concerts will include music from the Classical and Early Romantic eras by Beethoven, Haydn, Mendelssohn and of course Mozart!  The concert weekend also includes informative talks by Maestro Zoltek and our guest artists.

Legendary violinist Midori joins the Symphony for a performance of the enigmatic Violin Concerto in d minor by Robert Schumann. Respighi’s evocative orchestral portraits The Fountains and Pines of Rome will complete the program. This will be Midori’s only appearance in the entire region so don’t miss this rare opportunity!

Midori was born in Japan in 1971. Her mother was a professional violinist and she showed interest in the instrument from an early age. She was gifted a violin for her 3rd birthday and her mother began giving her lessons at that time. Midori would make her professional debut with the New York Philharmonic when she was just 11 years old! Since then, she has toured the globe and is one of the most famed violinists alive today.

In 2021, she was a Kennedy Center Honors honoree for her lifetime artistic achievement. It is truly an accomplishment to bring in an artist of this caliber for our patrons in the Flathead Valley to enjoy!
