Glacier Symphony announces “Enriching Community Through Music” a Radiothon awareness campaign and fundraiser on April 26 and 27
Glacier Symphony announced today that through the month of April it is collaborating with KGEZ AM 600 radio in a public awareness and fund raising campaign that will culminate in a two day Radiothon to be held on April 26 and 27.
The “Enriching Community Through Music” theme celebrates the organization’s 35 year history of providing year-round musical excellence to the Flathead Valley community, ranging from symphonic classics to summer pops, from large choral programs to the annual week-long Festival Amadeus chamber and orchestra celebration.
With the recent announcement by Flathead Valley Community College to partner with the symphony to build a new performance hall, the Glacier Symphony board embarked on this energetic fundraising campaign.
The Radiothon will broadcast live on KGEZ 600 AM or 96.5 FM from 1:00 to 3:00 pm both days at the symphony office, located at 69 N. Main, in Kalispell. Board members invite both current and new supporters to call in and share what the Symphony means to them, and why they listen to and enjoy classical music.
“We’re planning a blizzard of activity for those two hours of live broadcasting by the KGEZ DJs. We’ll be staffing multiple phone lines and encourage anyone and everyone to phone or walk in to the Glacier Symphony office during those hours and share their love for this music!” exclaims BJ Lupton, co-chair of the Radiothon and a longtime trumpet player with the orchestra.
Julie Moffitt, GS board president, says the Radiothon has two purposes. “First is to spread the word and grow our circle of friends and supporters, and second is to secure pledges to ensure our solid foundation and careful financial stewardship.”
Pledges may be sent in advance by calling the Glacier Symphony office, 406-407-7000 or going to the website www.glaciersymphony.org/individual-giving and click on donate, which will take them to a paypal form.
Lupton says that KGEZ radio’s owner, John Hendricks has been a great supporter of the organization they are grateful for volunteering his station to help.
Walk in pledges will be accepted on both days and comments will be read on the air.
